Dr. Joseph Mercola, one of the heroes in the Age of COVID, published 22 top tips for a healthier 2022. With all the subsets, it must come to at least 50 recommendations, all solid, but it is impossible to prioritize or employ them all from a practical standpoint.
By the time you get down to tip 18, one can feel burdened by all the recommendations. I agree with his number one recommendation, Vitamin D. However, number 18 should be number two. He says:
“Autoimmune diseases are on the rise, so the earlier you take steps to prevent them, the better. The good news is that some of the strategies that can lower your risk of autoimmune problems are incredibly simple and inexpensive.
For example, drinking a solution of baking soda on a daily basis can help reduce inflammation associated with and caused by autoimmune conditions. Baking soda provides a signal to mesothelial cells — which line your internal organs — that your body is doing fine; it’s not under attack, so developing an aggressive immune system and/or a harmful autoimmune response is unnecessary.
To try this strategy, simply add one-half teaspoon of baking soda to half a glass of water (about 4 ounces), stir until it’s completely dissolved, and repeat no more than three times per day, and no more than seven one-half teaspoons in any given 24-hour period.”
This sound advice does not make the point deep or complete enough. ICU and emergency doctors call baking soda sodium bicarbonate, and they use it to save lives every day. However, in the age of COVID, sodium bicarbonate takes on a new significance.
Doctors should be amazed at how fast COVID infected patients get better after nebulizing 3 grams of sodium bicarbonate in 100 ml of water administered in a nebulizer. If the patient is so close to death that they cannot nebulize, ICU doctors, under governmental supervision, pumped the bicarbonate fluid in and then out of the lungs, and all patients were saved. Now that is medicine, natural medicine.
After the news of bicarbonates’ success with COVID patients was released in Brazil, of all places, not a word more was said by anyone but me. Interestingly, my essay heralding this news was the only essay I have ever written that was banned on Facebook, whose staff is under the illusion that they know something about medicine.
Why does bicarbonate work so well for COVID, the flu, and many other respiratory diseases? It is a waste of time telling doctors and health officials. They do not want to know the answer to this question. The secret for the few interested in medical truth is that viruses are pH-sensitive. Sodium, potassium, and magnesium bicarbonates offer doctors a route to practice pH medicine.
Radical shifts in pH represent a powerful method of practicing medicine. It would behoove us all to learn how to do this because we are facing the end of the age of antibiotics, and that will be brutal for those who do not jump ship from mainstream medicine. We can violently pull the rug out from under most pathogens by bombarding them with a blast of alkalinity. Further destruction of pathogens will result when we take high dosages of iodine, along with supplying our immune system with plenty of magnesium, selenium, and sulfur
Sodium bicarbonate and Vitamin D wipe out the chance of dying from COVID or the flu, something that COVID vaccines have not managed to do. I am not advocating the use of bicarbonates as a standalone medicine. Complete protocols always work best but in the case of COVID hospitalized patients, bicarbonate proved to be the instant lifesaver. It is also the best antifungal medicine, vital for hospitalized COVID patients.
A new Ludwig Cancer Research study said, “If you want to clean cancer‘s clock—that is, defeat it decisively—you may want to clean it—that is, restore it to proper working order. Only cancer cells that remain active, in sympathy with the tick-tock of their internal circadian mechanisms, remain susceptible to cancer therapies. So, how might these circadian mechanisms be kept in motion? Sodium bicarbonate now promises to awaken cancer cells that have gone to sleep deep inside tumors, where oxygen deprivation and acidic conditions go hand in hand. By buffering against acidification, sodium bicarbonate rescues circadian oscillation.”
About half of all people with cancer are treated with radiation therapy, so it’s good to know that sodium bicarbonate is the prime treatment for radiation exposure. In addition, it helps the body clear heavy metals from the tissues, even uranium toxicity from the kidneys (according to the U.S. Army).
The principal danger of radiation exposure is the cell damage from vastly increased oxidative stress and free radicals, so I highly recommend hydrogen inhalation therapy for cancer patients and treating excess exposure from CAT and PET scans as well. The Chinese were also smart enough to use hydrogen for COVID patients. Inhaled hydrogen is like taking a fire truck to a fire. It turns the worst free radicals into water.
Some Bicarbonate Basics
Being acidic (so simple to test) means low oxygen and low cellular energy conditions. After all, in physics, pH is a measurement of voltage. So when we are acidic (low oxygen-carrying capacity of bodily fluids), pathogens have a party at our expense, with cells having sufficient energy (voltage) to resist.
Dr. Lynda Frassetto of the University of California, San Francisco, says, “Insufficient amount of bicarbonates in our blood reduces our capabilities to manage (neutralize and dump) the acid our body produces. This is the cause of aging. The age of 45 is the average age when human beings start to show symptoms of diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, and many other adult degenerative diseases. And since we cannot manage the acid, we accumulate acidic wastes in our bodies. These wastes show up as cholesterol, fatty acid, uric acid, urate, sulfate, phosphate, kidney stones, etc.”
In the blood, bicarbonate and CO2 are twin sisters, two forms of the same thing. In 1940 Dr. Yandell Henderson wrote, “Another natural misconception is that oxygen and carbon dioxide are so far antagonistic that a gain of one in the blood necessarily involves a corresponding loss of the other. On the contrary, although each tends to raise the pressure and thus promote the diffusion of the other, the two gases are held and transported in the blood by different means; oxygen is carried by the hemoglobin in the corpuscles, while carbon dioxide is combined with alkali in the plasma. A sample of blood may be high in both gases or low in both gases. Under clinical conditions, low oxygen and low carbon dioxide generally occur together. Therapeutic increase of carbon dioxide, by inhalation of this gas diluted in air, is often an effective means of improving the oxygenation of the blood and tissues.”
